Andy and Brittany share a special place in my heart as we had soooo many sessions together! Together we did FIVE sessions! We visited a pumpkin patch and local lake for engagement session one then we adventured to the Dillion, CO Ice Castles for their second engagement session. For their official wedding we flew to Oahu, Hawaii and spent a week exploring and one special day where Andy & Brittany vowed to spend forever together. Last but certainly not least, they celebrated their love with a vow reading in front of friends and family that were unable to travel to Hawaii in Colorado. For those of you counting, that is four sessions… the fifth (although technically third session) Brittany & I snuck away to a hotel in Denver, CO for some special boudoir shots for Andy’s groom’s present!
Andy & Brittany’s story started in 2008, way back in high school. They dated Freshman Year, with it coming to a not so final end Sophomore Year. Fast forward to Senior Year in High School. Brittany saw Andy walking in the hallway one day after school, thinking to herself how awkward it was. She held up her hand and said “High Five” and he went to give her a high five and missed (to this day, it’s still a heated discussion on who actually missed). Andy texted her after that and all the message said was “nice miss”. Little did they know, that was the beginning of their forever!
Fast forward to July 4, 2017, where every year they get together with friends and family for fireworks and bbq. There were people there that hadn’t been there before and Brittany never suspected anything. During the fireworks show Andy wanted to take a picture in front of the show and stubborn Brittany, was dead set against it. Brittany wanted to watch the fireworks and not take pictures in front of them. Everyone around was telling Brittany to just take the picture and peer pressure gave in. Brittany got up to take the picture, Andy and Brittany were posing for a nice photo and next thing she knew, he was down on one knee with a ring!
During our first engagement session Andy & Brittany started out nervous in front of the camera, as many couples do. Towards the end of our fall session I saw their true love for each other and the playfulness and immediately knew that they had been holding back! After reviewing those photos we decided that we we were going to play around at a new location and see if we could reach that light-heartedness again.
In Dillion, CO we hit success AGAIN! They immediately were comfortable and playing around in the shimmering Colorado snow. The Ice Castles made for a beautiful background to their radiating love for each other. We then decided to pop over to Lake Dillion to take some portraits on the frozen lake, where I took one of my favorite photos of 2019!
Fast forward to May of 2019, where we traveled to Oahu, HI. We spent our days scootering around the island, exploring Kualoa Ranch, parasailing, walking on the beach and of course drinking fruity drinks with little flowers.
On May 9, 2019, Andy and Brittany said “I Do” in front of 30 of their closest friends and family on Waimanalo Beach. There were so many beautiful moments – Brittany’s first look with her brother, Andy’s quiet moment with his parents, the inside joke that they added into their ceremony unplanned, the drive from their ceremony to the luau after and so much more.
After a six day adventure in Hawaii it was time to go home. But the celebration wasn’t over just yet! When we returned Brittany and Andy got back to work on the final details of their Colorado wedding.
On June 21, 2019 Andy and Brittany were ready to celebrate their marriage to each other by rereading their vows and partying into the night. I met up with them at Brittany’s brother’s house to put together the flowers and to sneak off for a special photo session at Andy’s home town ice rink that he has played on and refereed at since he was 5! We took photos in their wedding clothing on the ice and then headed off to Ralston’s Crossing – their wedding venue.
Something that we were not expecting and that most people pray to avoid on their wedding day – it was raining. Not only was it raining, the rain ranged from pouring to little sprinkles throughout the day. Brittany and Andy had planned on reading their vows outside in Ralston’s Crossing’s beautiful yard, but due to the rain there was a last minute change to have the ceremony under the gazebo where their reception was being held.
After the ceremony we ate amazing BBQ, Andy and Brittany shared a first dance, toasts were given, cake was cut, then the DJ put on the tunes and everyone knew it was dancing time! The dance floor was packed and the dance moves were banging.
A couple months later Andy and Brittany, along with their two huskies Ruger and Barrett, moved into their first house in Thornton, CO. This is just the start of their forever.
How wonderful! Sorry we couldn’t be there. Love you💕🎂
